Proactive's Godalming clinic is located in a beautiful riverside setting, near Guildford in Surrey, less than 2 miles from the A3 and just 20 minutes from junction 10 of the M25. Gatwick and Heathrow are less than an hour away and Central London is less than an hour away (by train).

The mainline station at Godalming is a short taxi ride or 15-minute walk away.

The sense of calm on arrival (onsite parking is available) is echoed by the warm welcome received in our state-of-the-art facilities. There are outdoor spaces to relax in as well as work on managing slopes steps and different terrain with our prosthetists and physiotherapists.

Proactive is the only private prosthetic and orthotic clinic to have purpose-built facilities. These include four consulting rooms, a large well equipped fitting and physiotherapy room, and prosthetic manufacturing technical area, providing prosthetic rehabilitation from initial consultation to post-fitting physiotherapy support.

Godalming is a beautiful small town with lovely spaces to walk or spend time in while we work the prostheses. We often suggest patients go out to test their prosthesis on different terrain to make sure they are happy and comfortable before they go home.

For patients travelling long distances it is often possible to have the prosthetic fitting process completed over 2 or 3 consecutive days.

Alan McDougall - Clinical Director/Clinical Specialist Prosthetist

Alan is a highly skilled Prosthetist who joined Proactive in 2018 following 12 years of clinical experience in the field of prosthetics.

Alan loves technology and has been involved in many innovative projects including new designs for trans-femoral sockets and the development of microprocessor-controlled prosthetic components that we can see in the marketplace today. These include the Elan foot and the Linx limb system.

During his time with Ottobock as an Academy Clinician, his role included training qualified prosthetists in the use of the latest state of the art prosthetic components including the Genium and X3 knees, Empower foot and the Michelangelo bionic arm.

Alan’s passion in prosthetics is patient care and socket technology, which combined with his technical knowledge and skills, ensures his patients receive the best possible outcomes.

Natalie Morrow - Senior Prosthetist/Orthotist

Since graduating from the University of Strathclyde in 2013, Natalie has been working in Ireland as a dual-practicing Prosthetist/Orthotist. Prior to joining Proactive, she was the clinical manager for a busy centre in Galway, leading their team of clinicians and overseeing a complex caseload of prosthetic and orthotic clients.

Natalie takes a keen interest in biomechanics and the fundamentals of gait. She is dedicated to achieving the best outcomes for her clients, enthusiastic to learn about their goals and work with them to help achieve the best results.

She is a collaborative team player, friendly, compassionate, and motivated to take on any challenge.

Rosie Chung - Senior Prosthetist

Rosie qualified with a first class honours degree from Strathclyde University and worked in a major London centre for 7 years prior to joining Proactive, managing a complex clinical caseload in a busy environment. She is a dedicated individual who cares a lot about her patients, what their goals are and how they can progress and achieve these. She values the MDT approach to prosthetic rehabilitation and has worked in focus groups for development of the rehabilitation process.

Her strengths include a friendly, keen and helpful attitude as well as positive communication skills with both service users and other health professionals to provide high quality care.

Sophie Ashton - Senior Prosthetist

Having previously worked as Clinical Lead at a busy London prosthetics service, Sophie also has 7 years of clinical experience in the NHS, including working with many new amputees at a specialist inpatient rehabilitation unit. This is where she developed a passion for building a strong relationship with each patient from the beginning and found it very rewarding to help an individual reach their potential.

Sophie understands the importance of a collaborative approach with both patient and the multi-disciplinary team to create new ideas and to truly understand a patient’s needs.

Sophie’s warm and approachable nature creates a foundation of trust to ensure each individual feels comfortable and confident in their treatment and journey ahead.

Andrew Reece - Senior Prosthetist

Andrew joined the team at Proactive in October 2022 coming with a wealth of experience in a varied two-decade career.

A keen problem solver Andrew is happiest when a creative solution enables a prosthetic user to reach their goal.  He enjoys getting to know clients and what makes them tick.

Andrew worked for many years as the Clinical Lead Prosthetist of the world-renowned Queen Mary’s Hospital Roehampton.

Andrew qualified from the University of Salford in 2003.

Sarah Hughes - Physiotherapist

Sarah qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2003 and started her career working for the NHS. Sarah decided to specialise in musculoskeletal rehabilitation and in 2017 she completed her MSc in Advanced Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. Sarah gained a wealth of experience in the Ministry of Defence, providing Physiotherapy to injured service personnel in Complex Trauma becoming the Clinical Lead Physiotherapist.  Sarah also has experience of treating paediatric patients whether this be as result of trauma such as a fracture or developmental such as scoliosis.

Sarah supports our patient’s rehabiliation in a holistic way from treating accompanying injuries in complex trauma cases to gait training and helping patients become mobile and confident using their prostheses.

Matthew Pizzey

Matthew Pizzey - Senior Prosthetic Technician

Matthew Pizzey

Matthew Pizzey joined the team in November 2011. A mechanical engineer by trade, Matthew’s previous role included designing and drawing under floor heating systems. Matthew first became interested in the field of prosthetics through his father who works for leading manufacturer of prosthetics, Ottobock.

Since then his experience has grown and broadened to include all aspects of limb fabrication and construction. Supporting four prosthetists, he has the ability to produce work to a high standard in time-frames to suit the patients’ requirements.

Alfie Bowling - Prosthetic Technician

Alfie joined Proactive in 2021 to support our growing team as a technician.

Alfie is tidy and organised which goes down well in the workshop which can get busy and chaotic at times! Alfie is the one who knows where that tool is or whether a part has arrived for the prosthesis being made.

Lorraine is our welcoming voice on the telephone and friendly face when you arrive at our clinic. She can help with everything from arranging your appointment to making you feel at home during your visit.

Her wealth of administration experience helps us to make sure everything runs smoothly and we are compliant with all the professional and legal requirements associated with running the clinic including the administration of immediate needs assessments and medico-legal expert reports.

Michaela Ward - Clinic Administrator

Michaela joins us as Clinic Administrator with a wealth of experience in administration and facilities management.

Michaela is delightfully welcoming and incredibly efficient. All our patients needs and requests are never too much trouble.

Michaela has a background in facilities management and health and safety and she makes sure that our clinic facilities are all in good order and maintains a safe environment for patients, visitors and the team to work in.
