Proactive Manchester: Expert Prosthetic and Orthotic Care in Sale

Proactive is proud to bring specialist prosthetic, orthotic and rehabilitation care to the North West, with our newest clinic now open in Sale, Greater Manchester. Since opening in December 2025, our Manchester clinic has been extending the same personalised, multidisciplinary approach that defines Patient Crafted Care to patients and referrers across the region.

A Convenient, Purpose Built Location

Located at 4 Brooklands Place on Brooklands Road, the clinic is easy to reach whether you are travelling by car or public transport. It is just a two minute walk from Brooklands Tram Stop, around 20 minutes from Manchester city centre by tram, and only about 10 minutes’ drive from the Trafford Centre. Six parking spaces are available directly outside, and the clinic offers wheelchair accessible parking, entrance and facilities throughout.

Inside, the clinic provides a modern clinical environment designed to support assessment, treatment and rehabilitation all in one welcoming space, backed by an on-site workshop that allows the team to carry out responsive clinical work, including same-day socket adjustments where needed.

Expert Clinical Leadership

The Manchester clinic is led by Sioned Wakefield, Clinical Manager and Clinical Specialist Prosthetist. Sioned began her career at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre at Headley Court, supporting military personnel with complex prosthetic needs, before moving to the Specialist Mobility Rehabilitation Centre in Preston. She brings a wealth of clinical experience and a genuine passion for patient centred, creative problem solving to every case. She is supported by Megan Crawley, our Prosthetic Technician, whose background in specialist simulation work and silicone technique adds real craftsmanship to the devices produced in Manchester.

Together, the team draws on Proactive’s wider multidisciplinary network of prosthetists, orthotists, physiotherapists and rehabilitation specialists, ensuring every patient receives coordinated, expert care.

Comprehensive Prosthetic and Orthotic Services

Proactive Manchester offers bespoke lower and upper limb prosthetics, including microprocessor knees, partial-hand and finger prostheses, and advanced osseointegration prosthetics, many of which are not available on the NHS. On the orthotic side, the clinic provides custom devices such as 3D-printed orthoses, pain-relieving orthoses, advanced bracing and sports orthoses. Physiotherapy and rehabilitation support is also available, delivered both in clinic and within the community, and paediatric patients are welcomed alongside adults.

No GP or NHS referral is required. Patients can self-refer directly, or be referred through a case manager, solicitor or insurer. Treatment can be funded privately, through medical insurance, or via case manager and insurer funded arrangements, making expert care more accessible than ever for people across Greater Manchester and the wider North West.
