We are delighted to announce that Alan McDougall joined the team as Clinical Prosthetist this week.
Alan is a highly skilled Prosthetist with 11 years of clinical experience in the field of prosthetics. During his career he has undertaken a variety of unique and interesting roles within the industry. Starting his career with Blatchfords, in a busy London NHS clinic.
Alan soon established himself as Clinical Lead and developed an interest in research and development. Alan was then able to combine his NHS role with a role in Blatchfords Research and Development team, the only department of its kind in the UK. Alan was heavily involved in many innovative projects including new designs for trans-femoral sockets, and the development of microprocessor controlled prosthetic components that we can see in the market place today. These include the Elan foot and the Linx limb system.
More recently Alan has worked with Ottobock, the world’s leading manufacturer of prosthetic components, as an Academy Clinician. His role included training qualified Prosthetists in the use of use the latest state of the art prosthetic components including the Genium and X3 knees, Empower foot and the Michelangelo bionic arm.
However, Alan’s true passion in prosthetics is patient care and socket technology, so keen to return to this focus, he joined the Proactive Prosthetics team in May 2018.
