Jonnie, who performed a waltz to When I Need You by Luther Vandross with his partner Oti Mabuse, said he might have to swap his standard prosthetic leg for blades later in the series, which runs until December 16. He said: ‘There might be a couple of faster pace dances where I might need a blade, the jive, the quickstep, anything that requires constant bounce.’

Strictly Jonnie
Watch out for Jonnie Peacock on Strictly Come Dancing as he swaps the Olympic stadium for the stage and his 100m dash for the waltz and jive. Jonnie will be the first amputee to participate in the competition.
Speaking about the news, he said: ‘The opportunity to be the first contestant with a disability to take part in Strictly’s main show was too good to turn down.
‘I’ve got no previous dance history outside of the occasional worm at a mate’s party and I know this will be a challenge and a new experience.
‘I can’t wait to see what I can achieve and how far I can push myself.’
Good luck Jonnie – we will be voting for you!!
